Emails / Cool Front

Decided it was a nice day and did not want to ruin it by tuning in to my cable news channels. Therefore, if only for one day I gave myself the day off from the tube.  I keep on putting off going over old e-mails and deleting things that are no longer relevant so took on that chore this afternoon.

Read some recent articles I had set aside for a rainy day regarding decluttering and organization that lead to videos and other links and it was just a vicious circle. I ended up disheartened that my closet, pantry, or refrigerator were never going to look like theirs...😞

We are expecting a cool front that will bring the temperatures down to the '80s sometime tomorrow at least for a few days. Today we had a high of 101 with a heat index of 104 degrees

Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. I spent 2.5 hrs yesterday with Geek Squad cleaning out junk from my laptop while it runs a little better the problem was not really fixed guess I'll have to live with all this new crap FB and Google have made. I hope you cool front is enjoyable. Sure wish it would cool down here already

    1. I wish I had access to a member of the Geek Squad but we do not have that here you are fortunate.

I am really looking forward to the cool front but not the high winds though I will take anything at this point.

Today's Aunty Acid speaks to me as I am the Queen of Procrastinating :D

  2. Every one is different so you can never expect to have your belongings looking like someone else's. Take your time. A little each day. You'll get there.
This Virus is turning all of us into Procrastinators.
Be Safe and Enjoy the cooler temperatures.

    It's about time.

    1. I know that my stuff is not going to look like those of professional organizers as they have a lot of room to work with while that is not the case in my parent's home.

I also lack the motivation and once I set aside the unwanted items there are no Donation Centers in Del Rio and I would hate to have to haul that stuff to either San Antonio or Houston.

  3. So glad to hear you took some time away from the news. I'm doing it less and less and am the better for it. All I can do is vote. Stewing in my own juices wont help.
The cold front arrived here last night and it is, whoa, cool today, only 73 for a high and I'm guessing 300 miles north of you. I guess I could look it up. .....Just did, only 232. Boy was I off. I was thinking out to west TX. So maybe you'll have some nice days ahead. Hope so.

    1. I am glad I took a break, but I jumped right back on the vicious news cycle on Monday. Today is the first Presidential debate, and I can not miss that.

This morning it was in the high 50's, and it felt wonderful. Your comment reminded me of a boss I used to have who was from the Midland/Odessa area, and we were always arguing because he considered Del Rio to be in South Texas, and not in West Texas. We agreed to disagree.

    2. I don't think of DR as South Texas exactly, because of the big bend in the river. So myabe we can all be OK with Southwest Texas! I'm taking a break from the debate.

    3. I'm sorry, I can not call it Southwest Texas either...we are in West Texas.

The debate gave me a gigantic headache. If I had had a beer in the refrigerator, I would have drunk one. What a horrible event that was!

When CNN the most respectable news organization in the world, categorized it as a "SHIT SHOW"...one better listen. It is no wonder that in their poll Biden won by 60% to Trump's 28%.

  4. My little cabin has almost no storage and one closet so I know what a challenge it is to try to organize in a crowded space. It is like a Rubik Cube method. I still have a lot more to do and no way will it ever be like the ones they show on YouTube.
Our places to donate are not encouraging donations because of Covid decluttering. I filled four boxes, put them out front with a "Free" sign and the majority was gone in two days. Maybe you could drop off a few boxes like that in a pooer neighborhood? Go out in the early morning so as not to draw unwanted attention. I bet someone would be glad to get them or could pass them along. Just a suggestion. But I really feel a weight lifted since freeing up some room and getting some cabinets organized. And someone was obviously happy with my discards. Just start with a manageable goal, say two boxes. It will get you going to do more. If you haven't worn something in a year, give it a new home.
My favorite chair was free, sitting on the curb with a free sign a few years back. Perfect condition. I have two beautiful wicker chairs (outdoor) I got the same way.
I set my timer on the first day of decluttering to thirty minutes. I ended up staying with it for two hours.
And if you are the Queen of Procrastination, I am the Empress!
Bon Chance, as we say on La Tasse de Cafe. Means good luck

    1. My friend who has been a widow for a long time has also been decluttering. She has finally reached the stage where she is able to let go of many things that belonged to her late husband.

She told her children to take what they wanted as she was going to get rid of the rest. She did the same thing you did...put boxes with a free sign on them and they were gone in no time.

Her shed is full of tools and other stuff so she still has a long way to go but at least she started her project. I, on the other hand, gave up. I need to be in the right frame of mind and I guess I am not there yet. Maybe when it gets cooler?

    2. I fully understand the stuck feeling. Where to even begin? Then after watching several Hoarders and especially the ones from the UK, I was inspired to start with the thirty minute goal. Where to start is the hardest, so just began with one cabinet and the rest followed. Weird thing is that since I have told other people (patting myself on the back) they have told me they are experiencing the SAME phenomena of stuck, short start, then getting on a roll. Like about ten people! So maybe two boxes is too daunting? Try just one. I am tackling the area under my desk today. My worst challenge of stacked up stuff I have been putting off. Not trying to pressure you or make unwanted advice. But maybe since you are far from alone with this, you will be motivated to do one free box. It will feel good! Stay safe, my friend

    3. Tomorrow Wednesday is trash day and not even that has motivated me to do anything not even to rake leaves much less bag them.

I had no idea there was a Hoarders UK version hope it is not as bad as the US version. I am glad you were able to motivate so many people to start their declutter. This procrastinator will have to leave it for "mañana"...

    4. I didn't motivate anyone..they all just said they suddenly had purged after putting it off. We all just happened to do it at the same time. I see John Wells did it, as well. I tackled my under desk today and part of one bookcase. It's a process.

    5. John Wells is a very focused and goal-oriented individual that has tons of stamina...qualities that I have always admired in him...I can not say that about myself :-(
