I can not believe it is once again Wednesday and half the week has flown by. I was worried about my friends in Houston with all the flooding that took place due to Tropical Storm Beta since many of them live in South Houston. Only one that lives in a high rise condo was not able to go to work because they closed the 610 Loop and parts of I-10 so there was no way she was going to be able to drive to downtown Houston.
I have not wanted to drive into town but needed to go check the P.O. Box so I waited until late in the afternoon to do so. Being that yesterday was the first day of Fall and that two weeks ago the city parks and San Felipe Creek once again were opened to the public I drove by there to check it out.
This is at San Felipe Rotary Park there were more ducks than usual this afternoon.
The high today was 91 degrees so these young people made good use of the creek and were getting ready to head home.
Don't blink because the year will be over before we know it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are staying dry and cooler.
Like Aunty Acid.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
You have no idea how much I want 2020 to be over and done with. I am so looking forward to a brighter 2021.
DeleteOh that is a lovely park. It is so wonderful to have clear running water. None of that around here; just slow and silty rivers/creeks. Except a few times of year in the country...little streams. But mostly. NOT like this. Thank you. Glad you got out. And thanks for the photos.
ReplyDeleteSan Felipe Creek fed by San Felipe Springs is one of our hidden gems. We are lucky to have this creek that meanders from east to south Del Rio crossing five parks as it makes its way to the Rio Grande.
DeleteWhat a great park love the waterfalls. Must have felt good to get out and take pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice park. I wish I could have had some extra time to walk around and enjoy it, but I have poor night vision and needed to head home before the sun went down.
DeleteI have been wondering if any of your friends had been affected by the flooding in Houston. I read some horrific stories of snakes and fire ants in the floodwaters. Shiver...
ReplyDeleteA day or two off is a small inconvienience, all things considered. I am glad she is okay.
Those are great photos of the springs. I imagine it is soothing to see after all the heat you have endured this summer.
I have been cleaning out cabinets and closets all week. Amazing how much stuff can accumulate. Best motivator is to watch an episode of Hoarders! Jajaja
Stay safe, my friend
I heard the same horror stories that is why I was so worried about them. Just a small amount of rain and the whole city floods.
DeleteWhile I hate cellphones, I need to buy another one that takes better pictures but that is not overpriced. I have tried to research them, but I get easily bored.
The kids looked happy, I think they missed being able to come for a swim when it was hot as Hades this summer, and the creek was off-limits to them.
No doubt, an episode of Hoarders can be a great motivator to declutter.
Did you happen to watch Rachel Maddow this evening? It was a very sobering show that scared the hell out of me. I only wish his followers would watch it...it just might bring them to their senses.
Be well, and stay safe amiga!
I did watch Rachel Maddow. I have been trying to catch all of her shows via YouTube. His followers don't care about the truth. I am not at all shocked about his comments. I saw this coming and it is only the beginning of what is to come. He knows he will be forever fighting the legal system if he loses, so going for broke is his only chance. Look for him to declare a shutdown nationwide on voting day. Also he will declare war on someone because you can't impeach during war. He is being played, like the rest of us, by Putin and thinks Putin will take him in if he loses. Of course, Putin is smart enough not to want any part of him once he is through using Twitler. The world as we once knew it is dead. This is the new reality. Survivors adapt and those who don't are toast.
ReplyDeleteSo other than that, things are rosy and more roomy here at Ft Penelope.
I watch a lot of political shows but Rachel Maddow is my favorite for the way she explains things. I also know he makes shocking comments so the press will fixate on that and not mention the COVID-19 crisis that he waved the white flag on from the beginning. With that said, I am sure he meant every word he said.
DeleteTo think he did not want to "panic" the population by playing down the virus yet he is scaring the hell out us by his outrageous remarks without evidence that there is going to be fraud if people vote by mail while implying that if he losses it is going to be due to massive fraud. While urging his followers to take to the streets if that happens.
You are so right the world that we once knew is dead and if this dangerous man is re-elected for another four years our Democracy will be as well.
Glad you were able to declutter and get more organized at Ft. Penelope.
Pee Ess..I hope you have seen the news clip where Twitler and Melania went to "pay their respects" to RBG today and the crowd started chanting VOTE HIM OUT! The look on his face when he figured it out just cheered me right up. Also bet RBG was smiling in the casket.
ReplyDeleteI certainly watched it not once but several times and savored every second of it. It was nice that the "presidential couple" was able to pay their respects for less than one minute" when it became obvious to him what the crowd was chanting and he could not take the heat.
DeleteBesides VOTE HIM OUT!...HONOR HER WISH!...and the lovely BOOOS!
No doubt RBG was smiling in her casket.
