Beautiful sunny day / New C.P.A.

It was a beautiful sunny day that started out cold (for me) at 47 degrees but warmed up nicely to 88 degrees this afternoon.  Set a new record high for today beating out the 2004 record of 80 degrees.

Too bad all this is set to come to an end as we are expecting a cold front and rain in the early morning hours.  My rain catchment ran out of water yesterday so I am ready for the showers and their beneficial rain.

I have been meaning to set up an appointment with a local CPA firm as I have several questions that I need professional advice on. What was my surprise when I called and was told they are no longer taking any new clients. It sounds like a lot of doctors in Del Rio that have a close practice and are not seeing new patients or if they are you have to fill out a form and be approved.

Lucky for me I was a former client of her late father's and she agreed to take me on as her client but not before several telephone calls between her receptionist and myself.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. They say there's no Global Warming, Ha.
Never heard of a CPA not taking new clients.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. It still astonishes me that some people continue to deny global warming with all the evidence out there.

I had never heard of a CPA firm not taking new clients either. I suppose a lot has to do with the fact that both her brother and father passed away and she had to take on their clients as well.

    1. George, how good to see you!

I am very fortunate to have been accepted as a client by this CPA. The Chili Cook-off was wonderful...I had tons of fun!

    1. I think it's chilly all over Texas but at least we did not get snow like north Dallas.

Though I have no complaints as we are due for a wonderful weekend before the next cold front arrives.

  4. That is amazing your heat records continue so high. Weather is out of whack everywhere. I hope you will get some nice rain before long.
We have had better temps here. Was up to 34* today so some of the roads and streets are clearing.
I am glad you were able to get a CPA to help advise you. All the rules are changing continuously and are baffling as we get older. Good to get your ducks in a row.
Love the Aunty Acid quote. Always good to laugh.

    1. I can not remember a year where we have broken so many records in this area. I was under the impression that we would get more rain than we did but I will not be greedy...I am thankful for what we got.

You were up to 34 degrees? That is downright frigid!

Landing a CPA was a true coup sometimes I forget how Del Rio is no longer the sleepy border town that we moved to in the sixties. Tax rules and regulations are confusing enough without me trying to tackle them on my own...I have always left it to the professionals.

Aunty Acid is always good for at least a smile, a chuckle or a downright laugh and my hope is it does the same for my readers.

  5. What a shame the weather has caused the chili cook-off to end prematurely. Good that you have a CPA lined up. My daughter does my taxes, which are extremely straightforward so I could do them myself, but I sure am grateful to turn it all over to her.

    1. You are a very lucky lady to have such wonderful and caring kids that are always willing to help their mother out.

I am not sure what you mean by "the weather has caused the chili cook-off to end prematurely". The chili cook-off ended on Sunday, November 3rd but I stayed until Monday, November 4th would have stayed another day but I had to have my friends help me take down my shade canopy as I can not do it on my own. It was a bit too hot to spend more time in Terlingua without it.

    1. I tell you JO this administration is driving me crazy! It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that global warming is real, it's here and we have to do something about it.

I am so excited that you were able to score a good deal on your Clam Screen room. Hoping to see a lot of pictures of it on your blog and hoping that you can soon take it camping.

  7. I'm sorry....
We are 10,000 years into the present interglacial period, part of a cycle that has been been going on for millions of years. Ice cores show that it has been warmer and cooler in this last 10,000 years...
None of the dire predictions have been even close to accurate.

I get tired of pointing this out. I have been called names for mentioning the history, the very small amount of records we truly have (300 yrs /10,000 yrs), the predictions that have not come even close to reality, the climate models that do not work with what we do know and the billions of dollars being made off global warming.
And still I stop & point this all out like what we think is actually going to make a difference to the Earth and it's cycles.

    1. I do believe you mentioned this on a prior blog post a while back. One can not compare the earth and its climate back from 10,000 years ago or further to current day because back then there was no air pollution, automobile, airplane, and basically emissions of all kinds from various industries, contaminated rivers, oceans, waterways, etc. etc.

I am by no means an expert on climate change but I have watched many documentaries, read articles on the subject, and listened to experts on the topic on reputable networks...by "reputable" I do NOT mean FOX...who parrots whatever the current administration views on the subject happen to be.

This month I have managed to piss off more than my fair share of people. I believe in climate change and you do not. I do not think nor do I desire to change your mind on this topic as everyone is entitled to their own opinion. By that same token you will not be able to change mine...so let's just agree to disagree.
