Getting ready for the second snowstorm in a week...

We live in West Texas known for its triple-digit summer temperatures and not for frigid winter snowstorms and certainly not for having two snowstorms within a week. We might get a couple flakes of snow every couple of years but not inches of the white stuff.

That is what is going to take place this evening and is already doing so in the northern portions of Val Verde County.

I do not know whether to believe the bottom graphic or not but we are expecting anywhere from three to six inches of snow.

I sincerely hope that all the people currently having to make do without electricity and water will soon have it restored.

Meanwhile, Ted Cruz flies to Cancun with his family for the weekend and requests police resources to get to the airport. After being caught he now says he was just being a "good dad" and was going to fly right back....yeah right!

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Aunty Acid Saying of the Day

  1. Now days they are called Weather Guessers. One of the leading Meteorologist in Canada actually said the weather has become "Unpredictable" that they can no longer accurately forecast beyond a day.
The ground temperature has to really get cold before any accumulation will occur. Even if it does stay with your normal temperatures it should be short lived.
Just hope your state figures out their power problem without inflicting too much inconvenience for its residents.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. The Noon News reports that there are five inches of snow on the ground and since it was still falling they revised their accumulation amount to be from eight to ten inches.

I think the unfortunate mishandling of this crisis will have many heads rolling and perhaps a solution to the problem.

  2. Wow I just took a look at your weather and it looks as though you are in for a bad time. I have been watching Tx news to try and keep up with the situation. And now the water crisis. I don't put much faith in the insurance industry, either. But, as you said, mayber some people will wake up and make some changes. We are living through some historic times.
I have some friends in Houston and College Station. They have always said my passion for being prepared was over the top. I just have no idea how some folks believe things won't fail.
No La Tasse today. It is bad in Ville Platte.
Saw where there was a significant earthquake near Eagle Pass. 3.4
We have warmed up here. There is still a lot of snow and the roads are icy.
Wishing you and your Mom an easy time of it. Stay safe and warm. :)

    1. Yesterday (Thursday) was bad I thought it would never stop snowing. More than half of the state is having water issues including Del Rio.

Funny my friends and family say the same thing about me about my zealousness to be prepared. This is the first I hear of Eagle Pass experiencing an earthquake. Most of the area quakes are due to fracking.

I tell you after this week I never want to see another snowflake in my life! Thank you for your good wishes regarding my mother and I. We just have one more freezing night to endure so this nightmare is over at least for us. Unfortunately, many of our fellow Texans still have other issues to deal with as this is far from over for them.

    1. That hideous man even threw his kids under the bus. With that big old suitcase he was rolling around does he really think we are going to believe it was only for one night?

    2. The only person who takes that big a suitcase on a "there and back" trip has it full of money or drugs. Right Senator? That guy has got to go.

  4. Geez. I just saw that you did get 10 inches of snow today. Wow. That's a lot more than we did. Of course SA is getting your leftovers, and they already had snow on the ground.Hope you keep your lights, water, and heat - the big three. I've lucked out on all fronts, but many in my little town haven't, and friends in bigger towns have had it worse. I'm still trying to lower my blood pressure by Abbot saying that's what things will be like under the New Green Deal. He's walked that back a bit, but not enough to suit me. The Republicans came up with ERCOT as the way to go. Even though this is a highly unexpected event, they really botched it. Not even going to mention northern Mexico being cut off from their natural gas contracts. Oomph,

    1. Last night and this morning we experienced a lot of power surges so I did not get a chance to upload the pictures I took where I measured the snow. In some parts, I measured 8, 10, 12 up to 14 inches of snow. Officially I think it was 9.7 or thereabouts.

ERCOT has known they had a problem since 2011 or perhaps even before that but they did not want to spend the money required to insulate and in some cases update their equipment. I dread getting the electric bill this month.

Mexico certainly is suffering now that their natural gas contracts have been cutoff in particular the four Mexican states that border Texas.

    2. Just read Abbott has rescinded the restriction regarding the sale of natural gas to Mexico.

    1. We have one more frigid night (Friday) to go JO. Just found out on national cable news (CNN) that our drinking water might have been contaminated yesterday when sewer water went into San Felipe Creek (our water source).

I wish I shared your opinion on Ted Cruz being done in Texas but I do not think he is because he has the backing of the Maga crowd since he helped to perpetuate "THE LIE". This poor excuse for a human being is not up for re-election until 2024 and I am sure he will try to run for president once more.
