The weather forecasters have been saying that today (Thursday) would be a warm day in Texas...but we know that weather persons do not always get it right. This morning it was foggy, gray, and cool as I went outside to feed my boys. The sun made an appearance at exactly noon but only for two minutes so I pretty much decided the warm forecast would not come to pass.
Around two o'clock the sun finally came out and it got warmer so decided to handwash one of my winter jackets and put the sun to good use. Then the winds started and while it aided in the drying process it did not feel as warm. It was therefore surprising when the 4:00 p.m. News said it was 91 degrees in Del Rio tied with Laredo, Texas as the state hotspots.
Went back outside to see if it really felt that high...and yep, it did...thankfully, it will be back in the '70s for the next few days as I am not ready for hot temperatures just yet.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
UPDATED
I was watching San Antonio's KSAT-12 News at Noon today when they mentioned that Del Rio set a new record high for the day when it reached 92 degrees yesterday. Sorry Laredo, we were the state's hotspot yesterday :)
Aunty Acid Saying of the Day
That was a Seventy Degree difference to what we had.
ReplyDeleteGlad your coat dried so well.
Be Safe and Enjoy the cooler days.
It's about time.
Glad I was on the warm side of the temperature difference. I do not do well in cold temperatures. With that said I do not do well in triple digits either. It amazes me how I put up with them when I was younger or maybe that is the key...to be younger...which is an impossibility.
DeleteWOW! That was a high one for you, we hit 80F on Wed. and slept with the ceiling fan on and that was enough for me. Like you I am not ready for the highs to be over 80 yet.
ReplyDeleteOnce again Auntie Acid hit the nail on the head
It was a record-breaker indeed and a little early for it. The house was still cool from the night before and remained that way that is why I found it hard to believe the temperature the weather guy was broadcasting.
DeleteAunty Acid is a wise lady!
I was just reading your forecast and some channels are predicting 34* in your area in a couple of days. The polar vortex. I hope you have more than one way to get heat, just in case.
ReplyDeleteI just think it is crazy your temps are so extreme. Also hope you have warm socks. :)
Did you hear don quit Sag Astra after they wanted a hearing. Look that up, if you haven't read the letter he sent them. And they answered it with "Thank You". Soooo no movie cameos, no tv shows, no more platforms for his tired bs. Wonder if he quite thought that through? Jajaja
Love Aunt Acid and the quote!
P.S. I think you will be glad to have a warm hat in a couple of days.
Yes, as of next Thursday our temperatures are going to take a tumble, especially at night. If the electricity goes out we have propane but neither one of us wants to try and light it so we will just have to bundle up.
DeleteI found some of my old Terlingua socks and with my new hat I should be warm enough, I have already worn it a couple of times at night.
I am not sure if I heard of the Sag Astra letter on Erin Burnett Outfront or Anderson Cooper 360...with my CRS...it could have been both :D
Since Rachel Maddow has a habit of reading letters to her audience it could have been her as well. Regardless of where I heard it...their reply was hilarious! Though they had already cut his cameos in Home Alone.
Love that Lou Dobbs was canceled and that Fox got their behind sued. Another hilarious clip was the Pillow Guy ranting about the "big lie" and the guy who was interviewing him walking off the set...jajajajajaja!
So you have a propane stove for backup heat and you are afraid to light it? Am I going to have to drive down there at my age??
DeleteLol, JudithK I can light a propane stove what we can not do is light the old fashion type of propane heaters. My parents quit using them after they installed the central unit years ago. I much prefer them as they are warmer and cheaper to run than the central electric heater.
DeleteMother says they have to be cleaned by a professional who use to come and blow out the dust and dirt every year as she preferred them as well but when the gentleman passed away they could not find anyone else to service them.
I may still have to drive down there. My previous house had little propane stoves all over the place. Never had them blown out. Just lighted them and off we went. But if you haven't used them, maybe we could have a look. And clean them ourselves. They're not complicated. On the other hand, I do think they're not approved anymore, because they use up O2. Still, my plumber hooked mine up when I moved to town to have an actual little gas heater in the bathroom. He probably wasn't supposed to do that. And it was "natural" gas, not propane. Excellent at making a room toasty. Even with central heat. Still, I suppose one should be careful about air quality, and I sure wouldn't want to contradict your mother.
DeleteThank you for your offer JudithK but I think we will survive if the electricity goes out. We also have a fireplace but we both hate it and it has not been lit in about 30 years. We can always go to a hotel...I am not too concerned.
