Went to bed around 11:30 p.m. but was awaken by the neighbors' dogs who started barking at 3:11 a.m. As hard as I tried I could not go back to sleep so finally gave up and got up at 4:30 a.m.
I have been complaining to my homeowner's association that they should give options so we could be able to make our payments online versus mailing them. I had Paypal in mind but the board decided on Zelle a form of payment I had never heard of but that supposedly is used by many banks...of course, many but...NOT MY BANK!!!
If your bank does not use this program then you have to download the app to your smartphone and pay with a debit card. If you call their support telephone number you are connected to a call center in India. I ended up hanging up on the guy as I could not understand him or vice versa.
This morning I decided to write a check instead and head off to the Main Post Office as mine is closed on Saturdays and besides mine always lose my payments. This post office is located in the north part of town close to Walmart. Since it was early I went to see if I could find some more discounted Christmas storage totes but they were all gone.
The last time I came to Walmart I bought some dark chocolates which are supposed to be good for you...ate a couple but then misplaced them...I am sure they are somewhere in this house. Since I had not eaten since yesterday I guess my sugar levels were out of whack. I ended up buying a carrot cake, muffins, more chocolates, menudo, chili and to make myself not feel so guilty...salads, nopalitos, and serranos :-D
Just wait, gas prices are headed much higher. And another war is brewing. IMHO
ReplyDeleteWhile I have heard that gasoline prices will be going up, I have not had an opportunity to read more on the subject.
DeleteKnow what you mean about not being able to fall back to sleep.
ReplyDeleteHere we pay our rent by Post-Dated Cheques. Our former apartment was paid through Automatic Debit which paid our rent from our Chequing Account around noon on the first of every month.
Being bored is what is making most of us eat too much.
Gas prices always go up at this time of year.
Be Safe and Enjoy your cooler temperatures.
It's about time.
Boredom is a luxury I do not have as there is always something to do both inside the house and outside in my mother's huge yard. I try to eat healthy but when my sugar levels drop in particular when I go shopping without having eaten I start to crave high-calorie sweet stuff like cake, pies, and chocolates though I normally do not have a sweet tooth.
DeleteWith a year into lockdown, I do not remember how gasoline prices behave in a typical market cycle.
I never in my life had such a sweet tooth until I got older. Now I crave sweets all the time.
DeleteGypsy, I know you do not like to go to the doctor but when I started craving sweets which was unusual for me, I mentioned it to my doctor. The labs he ordered showed that I was on the high end of normal and I could graduate to being a diabetic if was not careful.
DeleteI hope they start that crap with HOA here I have it sent auto pay already from my bank. This place has gone to the dogs over the years its a shame I really loved here until around 7 yrs ago.
ReplyDeleteLove both your sign and Auntie Acid.
I know it doesn't do you any good to complian about the dogs, I just don't understand how the owners of these annoying dogs aren't bothered by that constant barking.
I pay my yard guy (in Houston) with Paypal it is quick, easy, and I can do it from my computer though they do have a phone app. He always thanks me for having turned him on to it as his other customers like it as well and he gets paid faster.
DeleteThe two instigators are the corner dogs that watch over a business (no one lives there) and they get all the other neighbor dogs going. Their owners must have deep sleep cycles as they never once shut them up during the evening or for that matter during the day.
It is really a shame about the dogs. They are trying to say something but we don't understand them - it is probably "I'm so darned bored!"
DeleteI ment to say I hope they don't start that crap here.
DeleteGypsy - Since the two noisy dogs in the corner are guard dogs protecting expensive equipment they are not tied up so they get a lot of exercise and also have shade and protection from the elements.
DeleteThe dogs I feel sorry for are the others that are tied up in the neighbors' yard and that are never taken for a walk by their owners.
JO - I knew what you meant.
DeleteI can't believe you went off shopping when you hadn't eaten since yesterday. (I must be in my bossy maternal mode lately.)
ReplyDeleteHaven't bought gas for the car in so long, I don't have a clue about how much it costs. MONTHS. But I did have the vaccine last week. So later on I may be out and about.
I don't like to go out on weekends especially busy weekends, with this one being Super Bowl Sunday but I needed to get that payment in the mail. I enjoy breakfast but if I take the time to eat then I will encounter more crowds, and we were out of milk (we eat a lot of cereal).
DeleteI think pretty much everyone is saving on gas it has been weeks since I filled up. The only place I go is grocery shopping, the post office, and doctor's appointments.
I can tolerate milk now and then, but putting it on my cereal every morning was really bothering my stomach. Now I add coffee (w/half & half) to my cereal. I got used to it pretty quickly, but if I should use milk on the cereal for a change I could really notice how much better it tastes.
DeleteGypsy- Sometimes I amaze myself that with my CRS there are some comments that stand out and stay with me. I remember you mentioning your preference for coffee and half & half in your cereal.
DeleteOn that same post, I recall Dizzy Dick saying he put cranberry juice in his. I even remember my reply "different strokes for different folks". Now, why is it that I can remember that but not where I put my chocolates?
You are smart to not give your debit info to some yahoo in India for your payment. It is a sign of our times that the USPS is no longer reliable. I sent off a dozen Valentines to some fans today and no doubt a few won't get there in time for the holiday next weekend.
ReplyDeleteGas here is $2.48. Plus a bottle of Heet, for $2.49. Beet is a gasoline additive we use here because of freezing temperatures. And it is 5* as I type this.
I like seeing what you buy at the grocery store. Carrot cake sounds fabulous. I shopped today to be totally prepared for the Ice Age happening this week, plus some items for my prepper pantry. I am hoping not to leave my house until this freezing spell is over.
We had some snow and it melted just enough to freeze again on the streets so that driving today was nerve wracking. And everyone was in a hurry. They must have better insurance than I do.
Also bought a few more bottles of propane for my Mr Buddy heaters..just in case. I hope you will consider getting one. I am gadget challenged and have no problem operating them. I have the small one, plus the next size up. You can view via youtube..the small one is 60.00. They really pump out the heat, are safe for indoors and if they get knocked over they turn off automatically. I know lots of people who use them and have never heard a negative review.
Take care and stay warm my friend.
Nope, no personal information to anyone whether in the USA, India, or any other part of the world. I hate debit cards and whenever I have been issued one by my bank I immediately cut them up. I have never liked withdrawing money from ATM's...too many people being robbed at gunpoint while using one when I lived in Houston.
DeleteThat was nice of you to send your fans Valentine's. Thanks to the Liar-in-Chief our USPS is messed up and will continue to be until they can get DeJoy out of there.
Your gas prices are not too bad. I had never heard of that additive before but then again we do not have the freezing temperatures you experience in your area. Five degrees is way too cold!
I have heard of Mr. Buddy but I am afraid of the green canisters. I once bought one for my portable water heater but was afraid to drive with it in my van so it's somewhere in the garage. Many vandwellers swear by them, they seem safe enough but I can not get over my fear of lighting propane canisters.
Hunker down, stay warm, and safe mi amiga!
I just checked. Registrtion for the vaccine is available in your county. https://www.cityofdelrio.com/government/covid-19/covid-19-vaccine-distribution
ReplyDeleteThey should be getting some soon. Sign you and your mom up. It came here quicker than I thought.
Thanks for that link JudithK. I need to sign up my mother...I will have to wait for my turn.
DeleteSo did it work? Did you get her signed up?
DeleteYes, she is on a waiting list and will be contacted when they have more vaccines. Thanks again for the link.
DeleteI get my 2nd shot of the vaccine next week. I had no reaction at all to the first one, but I hear the 2nd is a real pain! I'll be glad to get it over with.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you decided to be vaccinated I recall you were hesitant about it at first. I hope your second vaccine goes as well as your first.
