Wonderful temperatures / Mr. Joe's wife / Late Night Comedy Shows

We have been having some wonderful temperatures with highs only in the '70s. I have had the windows open during the day to air out the house.

Wednesday I was picking up trash along the outer fence line when Mr. Joe's wife came out and we spoke from a safe distance...me from my side of the street while she stood by her driveway. I had my mask as well as gloves on. I had to ask her to repeat some stuff as she speaks in a low voice.

Bottom line she told me that there was a lot of tree and roof damage in the city and her mother's house had broken windowsHer mom is a real sweet lady every time she would see me would hug and kiss me like I was a family member...too bad this pandemic did away with all that :-(

I am so glad the late-night comedy shows are back on the air albeit from the safety of their own homes.  I have to thank Jimmy Fallon for being the first to go live as the others soon followed.  I am more of a Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers fan but thankful for anyone that can make me laugh and de-stress me in this current nightmare we are all living.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

Aunty Acid Saying of the Day

  1. These are trying times and they say that laughter is the best medicine.
Like Aunty Acid shows this is a nightmare you would expect to see only in movies.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  2. I agree laughter is the best. I watched something one of my FB friends posted about what some people are wearing for protection. I laughed so hard my jaw hurt. Have to look for humor in most things to keep sane.

    1. JO, that would make a great blog post for you as people are in dire need of some humor in these trying times.

  3. Glad to see your post...I was getting worried you had run off with Pollito! Jajaja
Your weather sounds lovely. We have had slightly warmer temps here and some sunshine. I am cautiously optimistic.
It is hard to keep a safe distance from others and especially friends who you usually hug. I went out today, needed o tc meds and a few other items (candy) from the Dollar store. Only three people were shopping, so I got lucky. Went to the post office and it was deserted. I decided I was on a roll so drove out to the grocery and after checking out the parking lot I decided to go in for a quick run. Very few people inside and...wait for it..I scored a ten lb bag of flour! So I am semi stocked up again. But it is so stressful...I was exhausted when I got home.
    Stay safe, my friend.

    1. Glad you were able to go out and stock up without big crowds. Girl, I have no idea what I would do with a ten lb bag of flour but good on you if you can.

Penelope...I may have bad times but NOT bad taste...running off with Pollito? I would rather cut my veins :-(

As you know I do not go online until close to or after midnight and even though I may not sit and watch my nightly cable shows at their regular broadcast time I do so later on in the evening.

It is so damn unnerving to get all the evening news condensed in an hour or two it just makes me want to pull my hair out! Rather than subject my readers to a nightly rant of what I have just been privy to...I have decided NOT to make a blog post at all...and as you know a LOT has happened this past couple of days and I wrestle with those that defend this administration.

Now the Texas governor has decided to start opening the economy. All I can say is that I am so glad I am retired and my home is paid for. I can not even begin to fathom what persons with a mortgage or a rent payment and a family are going through right now.

      Stay safe MsPenny!

  4. Here's a funny for you if you haven't seen it:
The spread of COVID-19 depends on two factors:
    1. How dense the population is.
    2. How dense the population is.
Meanwhile, I've been not entirely displeased with the Texas governor at least going a bit slow. There are some rabid people out there, e.g., those demonstrating in Austin today. When I think about it, he could have done worse. Of course, he could have done better, but I'm an old yellow dog Democrat.

    1. I was the first to praise Texas Governor Greg Abbott on this blog when he instituted the stay at home policy. With that said I do not think WE as a nation can lift all the restrictions without TESTING...something our current administration does not want to help the states accomplish...I wonder why?

It has been so long since I heard that saying...Old Yellow Dog Democrat...thank you JudithK for reminding me of that!

  5. I’m an old yeller hound dog myself MsBelinda, but I think Governor Abbott is doing a really good job. He knows how to explain things really good, without all the bull shit drama. Ok, just my honest 2 cents worth.Ill get out of your hair now.

    1. Ok, another "old yeller hound dog"...how are you doing Mr. RedEyeMule?

I agree with you with regards to Governor Greg Abbott...at least he is listening to the scientist and taking it a little at a time.

That does not mean I do not worry...I do as an Independent...I am afraid this is too soon.

  6. I knew teasing you about Pollito would get a rise out of you. I was just kidding. As I would say, "There isn't enough Tequila in Texas for that to happen!"
I make biscuits, dumplings, muffins, pancakes, cupcakes, cornbread, chicken fried steak and fried chicken. My newest project is to learn to make tortillas.
I have been limiting my tRump news watching. My blood pressure just goes to the moon. I keep hoping he gets hit by a falling satellite or spontaneous combustion. I can't believe anyone would follow such an evil man. We are a divided nation, just like in our civil war. I think he has already sold us out and I think the GOP has helped, as well.

    1. I should have thought of that but not being a baker or a person without the least bit of cooking knowledge and at this late time of my life probably never will.

Your comments about Pollito remind me of another blogger who at this time her name escapes me...CRS!

While I refuse to watch his daily political lies...I do watch the nightly briefs and I can tell you that my blood pressure number climbs to the roof afterwards.

  7. I only can watch Youtube videos, and I avoid any in which he is telling lies (all of the ones in which he speaks at all). I know my blood pressure goes up just thinking about the evil piece of crap.

    2. I never watch anything that includes our president speaking. Ever. Just reading it, which I try not to do as well, is hard enough. Actually, I don't watch anything to tell the truth. I just read. Too old to risk the blood pressure thing.

    3. I gave up watching the coronavirus briefings as he went on and on about what a great job he was doing and all the self-congratulations made me physically ill.

I like to watch the nightly rebroadcast of several CNN and MSNBC shows and they obviously have to address that day's lies and his daily lashing out at the press which I consider to be so unpresidential and disrespectful.

Rachel Maddow played a skit of a Saturday Night Live skit by comedian Kate McKinnon that I had not watched before where she is holding a sign that read "If you elected Trump he is going to kill us"...talk about foreshadowing!
