I had no plans to make a blog post this evening but upon reading our local newspaper The Del Rio News-Herald I felt compelled to do so. While I do not have a large following I have been sharing a lot of pictures of our local gem San Felipe Creek...not that my blog had anything to do with people visiting...but all the parks on its banks are closed and have been for a while.
Today's article is pointing to the fact that law enforcement is having a problem with Out-of-Town park violators from other Texas cities such as Eagle Pass, Midland, New Braunfels, and Austin. Here is a link to that article http://delrionewsherald.com/news/article_95f402fa-c7b0-11ea-96e1-ab2546d55ec1.html
Thank you for visiting Del Rio but please note San Felipe Creek is closed for now.
Good night. May you all have Terlingua Dreams.
Aunty Acid Saying of the Day
From the News we've been reading if people would just pick up after themselves as well as Social Distancing these kind of closures around the country would not be happening.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
That is true Rick.
DeleteRight now Texas is having an explosion of COVID-19 cases including in Del Rio so restricting access to Texas waterways was mandated by our governor.
Wow. I am so impressed with the Chief of Police. What a reasonable man....and he sounds kind and understanding. Wow.
ReplyDeleteLol, do I detect a little sarcasm?
DeleteAside from his name, I have no idea who the Chief of Police is since we live in the county and deal with the Sheriff.
No sarcasm. He really did sound reasonable to me. But then I may have low expectations. Even so. I've heard a lot worse from chiefs of police. A job I wouldn't want to have, always dealing with people who are doing the wrong thing at the wrong time in the wrong place. On the other hand, that's exactly what the job is, so do it well and fairly. It's a hard job. I may sound as if I am defending the police. In a way, I suppose I am. But I have also experienced being stopped by power-mad insulting ones, so I know they're out there too. Ah well.
DeleteI have to agree to be Chief of Police can not be an easy job in particular in these trying times. I would say most do a good job.
DeleteIt is just too bad they have to close that beautiful area because of so many stupid people who can't follow a couple of simple rules.
ReplyDeleteThe govenor issued a mask mandate here a few days ago and wow it got crazy in a hurry. The police shut down several businesses for not having employees wear masks, including our hardware store. So many squakers complaining about their rights. I ran into the owner of our laundromat and she says people are having fits about having to wear masks. She did not have one on.
There are lots of Texas license plates seen around. One guy, from Tx, screaming he came to Montana to escape the rules. Jajaja. Uh...that is not how it works here. Not that I know anything anymore.
Our internet was down yesterday and last night. I am addicted, I admit it.
Stay safe, my friend
Glad to hear your governor finally came to his senses and issued a much overdue mask mandate.
DeleteLol, on the owner of the laundromat complaining about people not wanting to wear masks inside of her business yet she not wearing one herself...sounds familiar!
Maybe our fellow Texans thought they were headed to the last American frontier where laws do not apply to them since it is such a vast state their germs would just blow away, so why do they have to wear masks? Doesn't their long trip exempt them from those silly rules? I seriously do not know what to make of people anymore.
I could do without the internet for a few days but I am addicted to my TV. Were you able to watch the Mary Trump interview with Rachel Maddow?
Love Auntie Acid header. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is so awful everywhere. They have totally lost control of this virus due to the ignorance of politicians and letting ignorant people running rampid with out masks everywhere.
We are at the mercy of our local leaders because most ruby red governors have their focus on their re-election campaigns and what will benefit them politically.
DeleteI hope all those governors who have mishandled this pandemic regardless of party are held accountable by their constituents and VOTED OUT!!!
