Taxes / Dollar Tree / Unknown high for the day

The tax deadline is fastly approaching after it was extended from April 15th to July 15, 2020, due to the Coronavirus. If you have been reading me for a while you know I am a procrastinator and just file an extension. However, this year I need to tackle this on time.

Went to the library to make copies only to find that it was closed. I think they must have taken a three day weekend. I had to settle for photographing them instead, then dropped them off at my CPA's office. Now they are in her capable hands and I can check that off my To-Do List.

Since I was already in the north part of town dropped my mail off here as I have mentioned before that my post office (on the southside) has a habit of losing or misplacing correspondence.

On my prior trips to Dollar Tree, they have been out of small jars of mushrooms and bread so went to check it out. They had the mushrooms but they did not have the wheat and whole grain bread I was looking for.

All they had was white bread and not a good selection...

They did have a good buy on cereal.

I have wanted to purchase a cooler tote with the Lone Star flag but they were out of them at HEB the last time I was there.  I found a girly one here for $5.00.  Put my two frozen pizzas, sour cream dip, and shredded cheese for the trip home...it worked great!

Found a welcome mat...not for the front door...for the cats to lay on.

It was very hot but I do not know what the actual high for the day was. AccuWeather claimed it reached 109, the Weather Channel said it was 102, and San Antonio's KENS-5 said it was 103 degrees.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. Even now some of our usual food stocks are hard to find in the stores.
Hope you were in the AC for those high temperatures.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. I think some items are hard to find just about anywhere. At least you have more stores to choose from where you live than we do here in Del Rio.

Rick, I could not survive without air conditioning now. I do not know how I managed to do so when I was younger.

  2. I went into the local Dollar Tree last week for the first time in a long time, it looks like they are still in the dollar business as I saw nothing different.

    1. It is good to hear that your Dollar Tree remains like its namesake.

Though I must say that I no longer mind that some items cost $3.00 and $5.00 as in my opinion are worth the price and I have bought a few.

    2. Value is value! The stuff you bought for more than a dollar was not at our local Dollar Tree.

    3. I agree value is value and you know how I love bargains :)

  3. Good for you to get your tax info turned in. I always send anything important by certified mail. That way you have a tracking number and can verify they received it. Only costs a couple of dollars more and worth every nickel for peace of mind. I also think the best time to go to the post office is 9:00a.m. on Tuesday, if you have to interact with postal people. Mondays are the worst.
I like your cooler and bet it will come in handy all summer. That is a pretty pattern. Our Dollar Tree is tiny. I have seen some YouTube channels showing larger ones with more merchandise.
My favorite mushrooms are the fresh Crimini. Slow saute in real salted butter, after slicing. I could eat dry cat food if it had Crimini mushrooms. Jajaja
So now they are admitting the virus is aerosol. Just like Dr John Campbell said MONTHS ago. Now I am leary of testing unless one has severe symptoms. Who knows how they are spreading this disease...maybe with the swabs? Also now they have most peoples DNA. I read where Texas had 10,000 cases today. That they know about. TRump Jr's girlfriend has been tested positive and has been everywhere. I hope Dan P. hugged her...
    Love your jokes, as always.

    1. I also send important documents via certified mail return receipt requested but those occasions are few and far between.

I had to mail my HOA monthly dues and to be on the safe side included a post-dated check for next month...who knows how bad this pandemic will be then? It was easier to mail it from the post office on the Northside of town since I was already there.

All the CPA's I have had, have filed my taxes electronically since that option became available.

The testing is going so bad I doubt that they would even keep them for a future DNA sample. If I thought I had it that would not keep me from getting tested but thankfully for now I think I am good...knock on wood!

I do not know if you watch the Rachel Maddox Show on MSNBC...yesterday she had a great show about the new book by Mary Trump and her professional assessment of his mental and behavioral condition...eye-jarring!

    2. I don't watch tv..but was able to pull up that show and some of the most recent on YouTube. Thanks for the recommendation. I like her. But the bigger question, imo, is why the GOP is letting him throw our once great country under the Russian bus. TRump is the puppet of the antichrist, Putin. The GOP are his minions. The object of these manuevers is to have America in complete disarray before the election. I would not be surprised if there is no election. So even if tRump is removed, we still have Pence whose brother is the mastermind. I think we are all dead and in a place called hell.

    3. The silence of the GOP is a mystery to me as well. They are his enablers and history will not be kind to them but then again who cares if we won't be around.

Putin has to have something on him there is no other explanation. I fear that he will refuse to leave the WH and not concede the election then mayhem will break out. We are all screwed!

  4. The temps will be here this weekend from 110 - 115. but it was 109 here today. But if you have to get out and run errands not much you can do but get out there at least you have a/c in the car. Be safe out there

    1. Per the weather channel, all of Texas is going to be experiencing hellish temperatures this weekend especially on Sunday.

As I type this it is 104 degrees with a heat index of 109 degrees. Uruguay is looking better every day not only temperature-wise (it is fall there) but they have had little Covid-19 infections.

    2. Sorry meant to say that it is "winter" in Uruguay right now.

  5. I think we are both in for a hot summer! I remember the days and nights before a/c.

    1. At least your temperatures are very comfortable at night and in the early morning hours. Right now it is 12:20 a.m. central time and it is 93 degrees here.

I too remember the days and nights before A/C...how my body tolerated it then...I have no idea.

  6. Oh and all those children separated from their parents.....Have you heard of adrenachrome?

    1. Like Rachel said the illegal separation of children from their parents at the border many of whom have still not been reunited...many who probably never will be...is the biggest black-eye of this administration.

I had not heard about adrenochrome until this evening.

  7. Was about to make a new post when the power went out at 4:16 p.m. Central Time.

Mr. Joe's wife was watering her lawn when I asked her if hers had also gone out so she went to check and it had.

It is currently 106 with a feel like of 115 degrees. I suppose many other cities are experiencing the same with this infernal heat wave.

    Hope it comes back soon.
