First Day of Voting in the Great State of Texas

Today was the first day of voting in the Great State of Texas and I am so PROUD of my fellow Texans who turned out in droves to vote in cities large and small despite the voter suppression that Republicans and its leader Texas Governor Gregg Abbott has been trying to pull on its citizenry.

I know per the Google report all bloggers receive monthly about their stats and that came as a surprise to me...that more people that access this blog...do so from their cellphones. If you do so then you can not see the header picture unless you go down to the very bottom and chose the Web Version which probably many are not aware of. That will tell you the voter suppression we are suffering and that even the Texas Supreme Court (all nine Republican) have upheld.

Here is said header picture...

Texans stood in line for as long as six hours in some locations just to exercise their right to vote and did so willingly and knowing that this election is the most important one in their lives because our democracy, our health, our values, and everything we hold dear to us are on the line.

I urge all Texans and fellow Americans to VOTE. Vote your conscience and show up at the polls decisively so no one can try to take your vote away from you even if the current administration will try to do so and is actively trying to put a new Supreme Court Justice in the middle of an election to take away your right to elect the candidate of your choice.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

  1. I SO agree with you, and hope Americans across the country will turn out in droves to vote in this election. It could be the most important vote you will ever cast. Being almost 80 I have lived through much turmoil in the US, but this beats it all - even the 60's wasn't as bad, and the people's voices and choices ultimately made a difference. Our current government beats just about everything I've ever lived through. Vote 'em out!

    1. I remember my parents being worried about what was going on in the '60s and talking amongst themselves after the evening news. This is the most important and pivotal election of my life where so many things are on the line not just for me but for all Americans.

The past four years have been draining, tumultuous, stressful, and downright exasperating and I do not plan to spend the next four in the same manner without a fight.

  2. Just heard some adds on Michigan Radio. They are saying the Democrats are doing what the Republicans actually are. There should be a law you can't spread falsehoods during a campaign.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. I can not comment as I do not know what is going on in Michigan or what ads may be running there. Though I agree that falsehoods should not be happening whether or not there is a campaign or not.

  3. It will be a miracle if this election is actually legit. Especially in Texas.
I haven't watched much of the confirmation hearings but Twitter is calling her Amy Phoney Barrett. One guy said she would be confirmed even if she rode in on a broom munching a baby's leg and trailing bread crumbs. I thought her choice of a red dress was daring...considering the comparison to the handmaidens.(If you haven't read the book or watched the series, try to find. ) I can't stand her nasal voice, her lying eyes, or her cult that suppresses women. Plus anyone with that many kids needs to spend her time actually raising them.
I do think there will be a lockdown soon, and it will last for months.
    Stay safe, my friend.

    1. Rachel Maddow had a young guy (about 32?) on her show yesterday, he is in charge of the Harris County (Houston) elections. She and Lawrence O'Donnell, as well as myself, were impressed with him. He seems to be running a tight ship in my former hometown. I do not know how it is going in other large Texas cities but this voter suppression to limit drop-boxes to one per county is going to come back and bite the Republicans in the ass.

I like her new name...Amy Phoney Barrett...the woman should not be confirmed! There are millions of people who will lose their insurance coverage, and I am sure many of them are Republicans.

I can't stand her at all, she looks like a "Mosca Muerta". It translates to "Dead Fly" but means "someone who acts like she can't break a plate when in reality she is guilty of breaking the complete family china".

I agree with your assessment of her in particular when it comes to raising so many children when her youngest has Down Syndrome and needs a mother's care and attention.

I have not been watching the confirmation as the Senate has the votes and will be confirming her no matter what. My blood pressure can not take it. It is bad enough when I see the nightly highlights on my favorite cable shows.

I have no idea if there will be a lockdown or not, but I am preparing for that eventuality just in case. Finally saw Pence and "mother" campaigning yesterday.
