Beer / Turkey Leg / Loaded baked potato

It has been warm, cloudy, humid and muggy.  Last night I did not even need my covers.  This morning it rained making it even more humid.  We are supposed to have temperatures in the high 80's to low 90's with rain all week.

I had every intention of going to Walmart but got a late start and as much as I am still incredulous about...Del Rio now has a rush hour and I am done with those!

Decided I would go to little HEB instead to buy a six-pack for the basketball games this evening. When I was at HEB this past Sunday I was not able to purchase beer because it was not noon yet.

A 16 oz six-pack of Natural Light sells for $4.99 but they had a special on 30-packs of the same brand for $16.98 making that a Best Buy.  Had an employee place it on my cart as I can not lift one without throwing my back out.

I was hungry so decided I would head to Hot Pit Bar-b-q and buy me a turkey leg that I could shred and eat with my salad.

While there decided I would also buy a loaded baked potato and divide it into four portions for later in the week.

Good night.  May you all have Terlingua Dreams.

    1. It had been a while since I had eaten a turkey leg or a loaded potato and it tasted wonderful.

Even with Canada's high alcohol and gasoline prices you guys still come out the winners with free health care.

    1. It was a good and quick trip to town. The NBA second round games have been unpredictable but fun to watch.

  3. Looks like you took care of all your needs without having to cross the Border.
Be Safe and Enjoy the game.

    It's about time.

    1. Yes, it was a good thing I did not have to be in the long international lines.

I have never seen smoked turkey legs selling at establishments or special events there like we do here. This is because turkey is very expensive in Mexico. During Thanksgiving Mexican nationals come and buy turkeys in the USA where they are more affordable for their Christmas and New Year's dinners.

  4. I used to drink lots of beer. Back when I quite drinking, two distilleries and four breweries went out of business. (grin)

    1. I have plenty on hand to last me past the second round of the Semi-Finals.

Are you still watching the games? The Rockets game last night was pretty good need to stop cheering for teams because all the ones I have been rooting for have ended up losing.

Do not know what was better last night the game or the fight between Sir Charles and Shaq. Shaq is still pissed off this evening.

The Portland versus Denver game is on now...need to cheer for Denver :D

    2. I have been working a hard job that puts me to bed pretty early - stayed up til halftime but missed the "fight". I'm pulling for the Rockettes but GSW looks unbeatable again.

    3. Lol, "the Rockettes"...like I have commented before I seriously doubt that there is a team out there that can beat the GSW. I thought perhaps the Rockets could give them a good run for their money the way The Beard has been playing all season long but I was wrong.

I think I may have a "super power" I cheered for Denver last night and they lost badly!

    4. Maybe super power or is Belinda a "bruja"?

  6. I hope you got that beer unloaded at home without throwing you back out. Ha. In a good cause though.

    1. I do not unload the beer JudithK I burst open the package in the parking lot and load it one by one into my ice chest which stays in the back seat of my car.

Even at my age my mother gives me a hard time if I have beer in her refrigerator. Out of respect to her and because it is her house I do not drink in front of her...I wait until she is asleep and then bring some beer in from my car.

  7. OH that turkey leg and loaded potatoe look so good. Baked potatoes come out pretty good in the microwave just put some slices in the potato before you cook it 3min the turn it over and do another side until you can easily push a fork through it.

    1. Would you believe I have never cooked a potato on a microwave? I am not suppose to eat potatoes (too much starch per my doctor) but since when do I listen to what she tells me?

I hope to at least give it a try but need to buy some potatoes first.

  8. I buy my beer by the case at Costco. I found out that having a 60+ pound puppy pulling on his leash has developed some pretty nice arm muscles, so I can lift a cast of beer with no problem now!

    1. I was wondering how much cheaper Costco is versus a regular grocery store as far as beer prices are concerned. The closest Costco to Del Rio is in San Antonio a three hour drive.

Having a 60 plus pound puppy does have its advantages :)
