A lovely 91 degree Winter Day

While it was cloudy this morning the sun came out at noon and the temperatures quickly rose. We had a low of 67 and a high of 91 degrees today. Have we once again skipped Spring and gone directly into Summer while we are still technically in Winter?

As I have been typing tonight's post the NBA announced they have suspended the remainder of this season...what?  The one sport I truly enjoy and that brings me happiness is on hold? The Houston Rodeo the largest rodeo in the world has been canceled, no St. Patrick's Day Parade and it is only a matter of time before Fiesta in San Antonio is canceled as well.

Now Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have the Coronavirus, they were diagnosed in Australia where they are currently located.  Wonder what State-run TV has to say about that...is it all a hoax? That is my two-cents for the evening.

I am having so many problems with Blogger it is not letting me know when I have comments as it has discontinued sending me e-mail notices.  Is this happening to anyone else?  I also subscribe to other blogs feed and I am not getting those either.

Yesterday after my trip to HEB made a quick trip to Dollar Tree and saw an item I had never seen before...readers but in sunglasses...what a novel idea and at a buck each they had very few in stock so I purchased two.  I do not know if I got the right grade level but it was the one that gave me the best possible vision...+1.50

Can you hear me crying?

I know I ask you this question every year but it is truly hell when I go outside and from one day to another I see those darn mesquite trees blooming. That only signifies winter is over in West Texas :(

  1. Someone can't say that is Fake News when the Celebrities start getting the Virus.
Those type of Sunglasses are okay if you are needing to focus on something close up in the Sun but don't use them for looking at distances. They will affect your eyesight.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. No, they can not say it is Fake News anymore but I am sure they will try to minimize it as they always do.

I want the sunglasses so I can read while in Terlingua. I no longer use make-up when I am there so it will kill two birds with one stone.

  2. Can you have the mesquite trees cut down? Two things I miss about the east are the lovely trees and the beautiful song birds.

    1. I can have them cut down but there are so many it would cost a small fortune to undertake that project.

    2. Mesquite is FANTASTIC for grilling!

    3. Hi Texas Guy! My apologies because I am having trouble with Blogger and did not discover I had a message in Moderation until this afternoon.

Mesquite is indeed fantastic for grilling but it is terrible when you try to get rid of them. They shed a lot of pods and you have to constantly keep on raking them and when you have a lot of mesquite trees like we do it gets to be a PIA.

  3. All those lovely flowers on your header.
I bought a pair of those sun glasses for the same reason but they had the wrong strenth on them they sure were strong I thought I was going blind LOL I haven't seen them since and it has been a few years now they are still in the truck.

Hadn't heard about Tom Hanks and his wife Rita that is sad but lets just pray they will be fine. That fool only cares about the money that it will cost the government sorry excuse for a human

    1. Indeed those flowers at Home Depot are very pretty. As you know I am not good at gardening so I had never really checked out prices for flowers and wow some were quite pricey as well as the price on some of the chili plants so I left empty-handed.

I tried the sunglasses this afternoon as I sat outside reading with the boys and Elvis..you are right they are strong!

Tom and Rita from all the reports I have heard are doing fine in an Australian hospital where they are in isolation. The newsperson said they were both in good spirits and Tom was joking on his Instagram account. Since I do not have a social media presence I will have to take their word for it.

I have to agree with your Trump assessment.

  4. I just read this headline (have not read the article yet) and thought you would be interested if you have not seen it yet:

Mexico is considering closing its border to stop Americans bringing coronavirus into its country as US case count passes 2,000

    1. I do not know where you heard this but it is definitively FAKE NEWS. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has been consistently weak when it comes to dealing with Trump. So much so that he has him, housing immigrants, in the Mexican border to wait for their asylum petitions instead of on USA soil as our laws call for.

While López Obrador is weak he is not an idiot and knows well what closing the border would mean to his country and the Mexican economy.

If it's not on CNN, MSNBC or another reputable news source...do not believe it.

Award winning Zócalo newspaper featured an article where NO ONE in López Obrador's cabinet can address Coronavirus questions. That responsibility falls on the shoulders of Dr. Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez, subsecretario de Prevención y Promoción de la Salud.

  5. I would easilly put the accuracy of this source along the same lines as CNN and MSNBC. You can choose to read the UK or US version. I would say the information is ALWAYS there before CNN or any other news source in the US, well, pretty near always. When they had the fertilizer explosion in West, I was feeding an ex-girlfriend the names of those that died in that explosion. She could not believe I was getting the information before her and she had relatives in West, which was the reason I contacted her. I stand by this source and I am more liberal than you are.

This is the link to the article:

    1. I do not consider The Daily Mail to be a reputable source. They take things out of context and like to fuel unfounded rumors.

What Dr. Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez was quoted was in response to Trump saying he would consider closing the border with Mexico back in early March 2020. The good doctor said Mexicans would not be taking the Coronavirus to the USA, it would be Americans bringing it to Mexico.

Just yesterday Mexican citizens returning from Spain were surprised that when they landed in Mexico City they were not being questioned, did not have their temperature taken nor were there any medical authorities present. They criticized the administration of López Obrador for not taking a tougher stance against allowing tourists from countries where this virus is prevalent like China, Italy, South Korea, etc. etc.

Therefore the notion that the Mexican President would close the border with the U.S.A their number one trading partner is simply not credible.

The Daily Mail somehow wiggled itself into my computer one day when I was accessing my pins on Pinterest. I wish I knew how to remove it as I hate their sensationalistic stories that keep on popping up when I am online.
